Idham is loyal to his trumpet; even if he has to work as an entertainer in a hotel for a “plate of rice”. Trends change and it gets harder to please audiences. In his old age and with a still insecure income, he now has lung problems. For a “plate of rice”, Idham permits his wife to go back to work as a singer. When his wife is singing in a bar, Idham passes away. His message is to continue the struggle, even if it is only for a “plate of rice”.
