Si Melati

Melati lives with her stepmother and sister, Kecubung. Although she is always treated badly, she never stops praying. One day, she loses a piece of clothing when she is washing in the river. She looks for it by following the river and arrives at a house owned by an old lady in the forest. She manages to get the cloth back, and the old lady gives her a fruit that contains a diamond. Kecubung also wants to get the diamond, so she re-enacts Melati's journey. But the old lady does not give her the fruit. So she steals it. This time, the fruit is filled with a snake, and the snake bites Kecubung to death.
