Ratapan Ibu

(title translation: A Mother's Lament)

This is a story of the Wijaya couple and their four children, Jauhari, Sarosa, Kusmana and Komala. Wijaya dies of a heart attack, and his wife had to work hard to be able to educate their children. Jauhari and Sarosa go to school in another city, but Kusmana does not want to go to school anymore. He chooses to help his mother. After finishing school, Jauhari and Sarosa come back but chooses to live alone. They marry rich girls. Kusmana remain faithful to accompany his mother. When Bandung Lautan Api occursd at the end of 1945, all is displaced. Jauhari and Sarosa still does not care his mother and sister Komala. Kusmana goes to battle fiels. After the situation comes to a safe state, all return, except Sarosa who dies in an accident. Kusmana could not find his mother, who lives elsewhere. He goes to Jauhari to inquire where their mother lives. Jauhari tells that he does not know. Kusmana becomes angry and beat Jauhari. Finally, the mother could be found and brought back to their original home. Then she called all her children, give advices and dies. The children are back in harmony.
