Marni has to raise her four children by herself after her husband commits suicide due gambling losses. Fawzi the oldest, disapproves of her mother’s plan to marry Erwin. And when Marni insists on marrying him, Fawzi runs away to the house of his grandfather, who doesn’t like Marni. He gets hit by a car and is crippled. When the children are adults, Marni manages to own the boutique she works in. But somehow bad luck always haunts her. Tanti, the youngest, gets pregnant by a film director. She aborts the baby, falls in love with another artist, and goes away with him. Firman, the tough second child, is always in trouble for his rowdy attitude. Fadli, the third son, who becomes a doctor, commits suicide when he is heartbroken by Misye, his girlfriend, who is also Fawzi’s business partner. Misye is in love with Fawzi, but Fawzi only wants her money. In her loneliness, she seduces Fadli, but eventually she marries Fawzi. When he finds out about this, Fawzi divorces Misye. When Fawzi visits his mother’s house, he sees the police arresting Firman for the death of Tanti’s artist boyfriend. Fawzi wants his share of inheritance to buy out the restaurant business from Misye. Erwin, who has returned and is in the house, beats up the ungrateful Fawzi. Marni is angry and throws Erwin out of the house. Later, Fawzi regrets after reading his late father’s letter, who apologized for making life difficult for Marni. Marni returns to the orphanage where she came from. She forgives Fawzi and asks him to go home.
