Bahar, a young man from abroad is called back to Jakarta to work at his uncle’s company. In the family house he falls in love with his uncle’s youngest daughter, Aisah. But their relationship is hindered by the death of Meinar, Aisah’s ailing sister. Aisah really loves Meinar’s little daughter and is close with her brother-in-law, Arman. Before her death, Meinar asks Aisah to promise to marry Arman and be a good stepmother for her daughter. So with tears in her eyes, Aisah leaves Bahar. The broken-hearted Bahar finds another girl, a worker in the factory named Fatimah. Bahar and Fatimah live together, unmarried, until one day a situation forces them.
