Synopsis

 

Pahlawan Goa Selarong (The Patriot of Goa Selarong)
Prince Diponegoro’s (Ratno Timoer) worries over the actions of vice-regent Danurejo (Kusno Sudjarwadi) that make the people suffer, such as increased taxes. Diponegoro finally leaves the “kraton” (the kingdom) and joins Sentot Alibasyah Prawirodirjo (Imam Sutrisno). The oppression becomes unbearable when Diponegoro’s land in Tegalrejo is claimed for a public road and his house is even set on fire. So Diponegoro and his men seek refuge in Goa Selarong, where they begin the fight against the Dutch. The story ends in a war that is won by Diponegoro. This film, intended to show heroic patriotism, leaves a lot of unanswered questions such as unclear locations, Diponegoro’s role in the “kraton” that seems so important, and incomplete historical information.
