Panggung Pinggir Kali

(title translation: Stage on the Riverside)

Raihan's father is killed when he is caught robbing by an angry mob. Rani loves to sing so Raihan builds a bamboo stage for her near the village river. Then Raisan moves to Jakarta, becomes a street hawker and saves his money to marry Rani. Rani also moves to Jakarta but she is the victim of human trafficking and is about to be sold as a sex worker. But she manages to escape and then becomes a famous dangdut singer. Now she is married to a police officer. Raihan, who feels that all his attempts are in vain, becomes a thug and a robber. In the end, he has to deal with Rani's husband who is just doing his job.
