Synopsis

(title translation: Solo Princess)

To earn a better livelihood, Sulastri’s parents entrust her to her uncle. But she is treated like a servant by her aunt Subimo and cousin, Haryati. To distract herself from her misery, she gets along with the driver, the cook, and the maid. Hirlan is supposed to be engaged to Haryati, but during the engagement party, his sets his eyes and heart on Sulastri.

Note

Although she has many film roles since 1951, Titien Sumarni’s name only rose through this movie. Solo was chosen as the site for the film’s premiere, during New Year’s Eve in 1954. It was a box-office success.
