Nugroho is a transgender from the lower class. He lives with his mother and sister, Nining, in a slum. Nugroho is the breadwinner of the family and his mother and sister accepts him unconditionally. His stepfather, Robaka, hates him and enjoys ridiculing him, even though he is unemployed, irresponsible and even attempts to rape Nining. Daniel, a transgender from the upper class, is ashamed of himself. Daniel is pressured to let go of his effeminate nature. He is rescued by Iwan and put under the protection of Mirna, a transgender leader. There, Daniel is successfully guided to be a talented model. Finally, Daniel’s family accepts his circumstances. These stories are told from the point of view of Arifin, a journalist who often writes about transgender issues.
