Synopsis
(title translation: Meaning Behind a Tragedy)
Hannah Catrelle is an American citizen living in Bali when the bomb explodes in 2002. In the aftermath, she meets Haji Ismail, a Muslim Balinese who also becomes a volunteer. Liz Thompson, an Australian journalist who comes to Bali seven months after the bombings, meets Wayan Diya, a Balinese cab driver. Wayan, who at first, is reticent towards Liz finally opens up about his brother who was a victim in the tragedy. The stories parallel the flashbacks of the Bali Bombing plot by Imam Samudra and others. There are four narrative threads in the film. It depicts how the conspirators cannot agree on the location of the attack until one terrorist meets an annoying Western man in the lift who wears a Bali T-shirt. This gives the inspiration to make Bali as the location of the attack.
