Title translation: When Brother Gagah Is Away the Movie

Gita, a tomboy who loves poetry, always proud of Gagah, her older brother whom she thinks almost perfect. Dashing handsome, smart, modern and always prays on time. Since their father died, while in college Gagah helps Mama and becomes the backbone of the family.

Going away to the North Maluku to help his thesis supervisor, he completes the development concept of a transmitter tower. Gagah has lost contact, when he goes to the interior and gets an accident. Gagah is treated by Kyai Ghufron, a boarding school leader, who is understated and highly respected in North Maluku.

When Gagah is away, Gita several times meets Yudi on buses, trains and other places. He likes to invite people to goodness, enlighten and strengthen each person he meets, including in residential areas affected by the disaster and always the first to help those in need. Gita is curious but she does not need to know more about Yudi.

After two months, Gagah is back home. Gita is shocked as Gagah changes. Gagah looks very eager to live the teachings of Islam, and often tells Gita to execute the commands of religion. Gita disgusts. Gagah keeps trying to invite Gita and also Mama, the two people he loves, to get to know the beauty of Islam. Gita is shocked again to see her friend, Tika, wearing hijab.

The lectures of Yudi, the changing ofTika and Nadia, raise awareness of Gita. She is also pleased to be invited to the "House of Love", a house full of books built by Gagah for poor children on the outskirts of Jakarta. There she enjoys a friendship of Gagah with Urip, Asep and Ucok, a former thug who manage the library.

Gita decides to surprise her brother by wearing hijab on her 18^th birthday. Unfortunately, the riots engineered by thugs, thwart her good intention.
