Synopsis

(title translation: Purple Fog at the Shore)

Yanto is a successful photographer who becomes arrogant as a result. He fires his assistant who cannot keep up with his demands. He marries Lastri, who has sacrificed a lot for his success. The pregnant Lastri is left at his parents’ house. Their relationship is more strained with the arrival of Yanti, his new assistant. The tension peaks when Yanto and Yanti are caught having sex. Yanto is furious, causing a lamp to fall on Lastri and breaking her head. Yanto quickly buries her with the help of Yanti. Yanto and Yanti’s life is never at peace with the haunting of Lastri.

Note

Supadmi (who also acted in the film) had been shot three times in the hand and jaw and pretended to be dead. This was one of the most talked about scandals of 1980 which involved a police officer, Chief of Intelpam Kodak X, East Java. Supadmi’s ‘dead body’ was thrown into a ravine in Bojonegoro teak forest.

Supadmi then climbed the ravine and asked for help. When the story was about to be filmed, Supadmi objected. So the story was re-written with little similarity. Supadmi was willing to act in the film and received Rp 2 million.
