Kasih Tak Sampai

(title translation: Unrequited Love)

Iyem, the housemaid, and Mrs. Sukardi, her employer, give birth to baby girls. Mrs. Sukardi decides to adopt Iyem’s daughter, a love child, Ningsih. Although Iyem still works for the Sukardi household, she is forbidden to refer to Ningsih as her own daughter. One day, Ratna overhears the conversation of her parents (Mr. and Mrs. Sukardi) and tells Ningsih that she is Iyem’s daughter. Ningsih leaves the house and later becomes a movie star. With her new fame, Ningsih is ashamed to acknowledge Iyem as her mother. She later regrets when Iyem passes away. Ningsih can only weep at her mother’s grave.
