Synopsis
Little Lana is three years old when his father abandons her at the zoo. Raised by a giraffe trainer, she sees the zoo as her only world. When a magician appears there, Lana falls in love, departing from the zoo and opening up herself for an adventure. On the streets of Jakarta she helps to prepare the magic shows and sells remedies, also entertains visitors at Planet Spa. Suddenly the magician disappears. Lana is left alone. She practices to be a massager and becomes popular among the customers. But she feels something missing in her. She returns then to the place she is once abandoned.

World-premiered at the Berlinale (Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin or Berlin International Film Festival). It is the first Indonesian film after 50 years that’s admitted in the competition of the reputable festival. In the program of the festival, the title of the film is The Zoo.

Screened in German dub version on 33 theaters’ screens in Berlin, Hamburg, Halle and Ausburg starting from January 17, 2013, under the title Die Nacht der Giraffe.
