Kantata Takwa

The film is a poetic testimony of Indonesian artists during the repressive era of the New Order Regime of Soeharto. It was an era filled with corruption, collusion, nepotism, and many arrests, kidnappings, and murders of activists who rebelled against the ruling government. Among these activists was W.S. Rendra, a poet who went in and out of jail because his works were considered critical towards the government. Artists and singers Iwan Fals, Sawung Jabo, Jockie Surjoprajogo, and Setiawan Djodi, who often spoke their opinions about the social condition in Indonesia, also faced the possibility of incarceration. Their testimonies of the artists was staged in the form of a great concert, an art performance called "Kantata Takwa".
