Kutukan Ibu

(title translation: Mother’s Curse)

Madi, a widow’s son is spoiled, so that her hard work (selling gado-gado, a local salad) to pay for his school fees comes to nought. He falls into gambling and drug abuse instead. Then he meets Rosita and Marni, and he has sex with Rosita while she is unconscious. When she becomes pregnant, Madi feels obliged to marry her but while Rosita repents her ways, Madi keeps on gambling and spends all his mother’s money. He even refuses to acknowledge his own mother when Rosita hires her as a servant. Madi’s attitude makes his mother curse him and he becomes insane, while Rosita gives birth to his baby.
