Jangan Menangis Mama

(title translation: Don't Cry Mama)

Nani elopes with Hendra when her mother opposes the relationship. Her father is actually on her side, but he submits to his wife’s wishes. Hendra and Nani live a simple life in the village. Hendra works as a teacher and they have three children. Then Hendra dies after an accident so Nani has to work as a seamstress. Her children, Budi and his younger sister Lilik, secretly help out their mother when Budi finds work as a ball boy at a tennis court, and Lilik sells snacks at school. But Nani thinks that they are lying about their school fees being waived. In fact, they are paying for it themselves. They also have to go through difficulties in their venture, when they are bullied by classmates and have to skip school for their jobs. Then Nani finally learns the truth and the film ends with Nani’s parents repenting their decision. They come to Jakarta when Nani has to be hospitalised, while the children are graduating from their classes.
