Synopsis
Isabella (Nia Zulkarnaen), an Indonesian girl living in Malaysia, falls in love with a rock musician named Amy (Amy Search). As soon as Isabella’s parents (Robert Syarief, Ida Kusumah) get one look at Amy, they immediately tell Isabella that she cannot see him anymore because they have been influenced by news articles about riots occurring at rock concerts in Jakarta. They refuse to change their stance even when they learn that Amy is a staunch Muslim who performs his daily prayers regularly. They suggest that Isabella, whose nickname is Bella, date Robby (Alan Nuari) instead, but Bella doesn’t like him. Suddenly, Bella’s parents are transferred back to Jakarta. Amy doesn’t know what to do. His efforts to reach Bella by telephone fail because her parents are screening her calls. This situation gives rise to tension in Amy’s group. Amy then makes a trip to Jakarta to try to convince Bella’s parents to accept him, but this effort fails. The problem is resolved some time later when Amy returns to Jakarta for a rock concert. By chance, Robby, who is also not happy with having been betrothed to Bella against his own wishes, gets some advice from a friend: Try to rape her. He carries out this plan, and when Bella’s parents find out, they put an end to the betrothal.
• The film’s title is derived from the title of a song by Amy and his band, Search, a Malaysian musical group that was very popular at the time the film was made.
