Gairah Malam

The main intention of this film was to feature erotic scenes, while milking the popular themes of violent physical conflict and supernatural powers, all presented through cinematographic tricks galore. The story begins with Ajeng Puspadewi (Malfin Shayna), who had been raped and mocked by a local fighter and landlord, the father of two martial arts master Ludira (Adam Yordan), who has an evil cast to his character, and Aditya (Ariel Perkasa GM), who has a good character. Due to a desire for revenge,  Ajeng immerses herself in the study of black magic that she uses to enhance her beauty and her power. This thirst for vengeance takes other victims, among them a young woman whose family also decides to take revenge. The story culminates in a huge battle.

• This film emerged from the trend toward erotica that was very popular and successful in the 1990s. The film’s producer, Hasok Soebroto, is the younger brother of Hatoek Soebroto, the owner of PT Elang Perkasa Film. This was the second most popular film in Jakarta in 1994, with 269,804 viewers, according to data from the Indonesian Film Company.
