Title translation: Torn Moon in American Sky

After receiving video email from a girl entitled "Do you know my dad?", Hanum (Acha Septriasa), a journalist who works for a Vienna news agency, gets the task to write an article provocatively titled "Is the world better off without Islam?".

To answer this, Hanum must meet the victims of the 9/11 tragedy in New York: Azima Hussein (Rianti Cartwright), a convert who works in a museum, and her daughter, Sarah Hussein.

At the same time, her husband Rangga (Abimana Aryasatya), is also assigned by his professor to interview an American billionaire and philanthropist, Phillipus Brown, in order to complete the requirements of his doctoral degree. Brown is known not easily to talk to the media. Rangga has to meet with Stefan (Nino Fernandez) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Hannah Al Rashid) in New York who has arranged an exclusive meeting with Brown.

Their tasks fall apart when a big demo end in chaos and endanger their safety.
