Bulu-Bulu Cendrawasih

(title translation: Feathers of Bird of Paradise)

Usman, a young man from a secluded village in North Sumatra, comes to find success in Jakarta. He lives in his uncle’s house, Hamdan, who owns a Padang restaurant and is also a small time tailor. Usman joins his uncle in the venture. Usman then meets Husni, a school friend who parties around, and Elvira Suhardiman, a boutique owner who lives alone after her husband marries again, and this totally changes his life. Usman is given a new name, Vitorio, and lives with Elvira. But Usman still plays around with Elvira’s friend, who trains him to become a famous model, and he also dates one of the fashion models. Elvira, who wants him for herself and refuses her husband’s attempt at reconciliation, suffers in silence. When they finally stage a fashion show abroad, it fails because Elvira dies.
