Three women from three different social, economic, and ethnic groups discuss their lives in polygamous household. Salma, a gynecologist, has a prominent life, but has to struggle for the sake of her family when her husband, Pak Haji, marries a younger woman. Nadim, Salma’s only son, is the reason why she accepts polygamy. However, Nadim grows up to oppose polygamy. Siti, a Javanese girl, dreams of a better life in Jakarta, lives in her uncle Pak Lik’s tiny home, with his two wives. It makes Siti accustomed to the life of polygamy. Then her uncle falls in love with her and intends to take her as his third wife. Siti and her uncle’s two wives get closer after she becomes his third wife. Ming, a young girl of Chinese descent, is known as the flower, in the roast duck restaurant where she works. Koh Abun, the cook who is also the restaurant owner, cannot hide his desire to marry Ming. Even his stern wife, Cik Linda, cannot stop him. Ming accepts Koh Abun’s marriage proposal as she feels secure with him, although he is old enough to be her father. But when her former boyfriend, Firman, a film director, offers her a leading role in his film, Ming needs her freedom and realizes her potential.
