Arya Penangsang

Arya Penangsang, the Duke of Jipang, sends his soldiers to kill Sunan Prawoto, the ruler of Demak, who killed his father. The death of Sunan Prawoto, makes Queen Kalinyamat, the sister of Prawoto, livid with hatred. With her husband, Prince Hadiri, she pleads for justice to Sunan Kudus, a Wali (an outdated title for Islamic leader), who apparently is in favour of Arya Penangsang. On her way home, Kalinyamat is attacked by Singaprana, an attendant of Penangsang. Prince Hadiri is killed in the duel, while Queen Kalinyamat is thrown into an abyss and thought to be dead. But she is saved by a young man from Jipang, who also has a resentment toward Penangsang for killing his father. Then Kalinyamat begins to meditate naked and is determined not to stop until the death of Penangsang. Meanwhile, Penangsang also wants to destroy Sultan Hadiwijaya aka Jaka Tingkir from Pajang, who is a relative of Sunan Prawoto. Then Queen Kalinyamat requests for help from Sultan Hadiwijaya, to take revenge on Penangsang. Ki Pemanahan and Ki Penjawi, the assistants of Sultan Hadiwijaya, are willing to tackle Penangsang. So they develop a strategy with Danang Sutawijaya to set up a duel. Danang Sutawijaya, son of Ki Pemanahan, is also the foster child of Sultan Hadiwijaya. In the duel, he rides a female horse and armed with a spear of Kyai Plered that belongs to Sultan Hadiwijaya. When the male horse of Penangsang is tempted by Sutawijaya’s female horse, the latter manages to throw the spear of Kyai Plered right into Penangsang.
